The MPEYE HTS-200 5GB is currently the worlds smallest hard drive digital audio player being a miniscule 70 X 43 X 18 (mm). This equates to almost half the size of the Apple iPod Mini. Somehow the manufacturer has managed to squeeze a massive range of features into the HTS-200s aluminium shell including multi-codec support (MP3 WMA OGG) an FM tuner and recorder direct MP3 encoding voice recording and Removable Disk Drive support. Transfers to the MPEYE HTS-200 are lightning fast due to the high speed USB 2.0 support. The build quality of the HTS-200 is sensational featuring a strong metallic aluminium outer body along with a shock absorbing rubber inner cover. Weve tried dropping the player on the floor and throwing it around the office and it didnt skip once. The front of the player is dominated by a super sharp 128x80 pixels 65K full colour LCD screen; it may be small but its definitely perfectly formed. As well as displaying track information battery life etc the MPEYE supports JPEG photo display and moving picture animations through the supplied logo editor. Its a really nice touch watching animated photos as you listen to your favourite music. Youd expect the battery life to suffer with such a bright full colour screen but the HTS-200 will keep on going for over 18 hours via its built-in rechargeable lithium battery. A full charge of this battery only takes 2 hours and you can replenish 70% of the battery capacity in 1 hour. Sound quality is powerful rich and precise with an impressive 15mW of sound output per channel. Even the white earphones supplied in the box with the MPEYE HTS-200 are surprisingly good although a pair of Shure E2C earphones does bring the HTS-200 to another level of audio brilliance. You wont quite believe it when you pick up this MP3 player and realise the MPEYE HTS-200 5GB has enough capacity to store over 2500 songs and that its packed with quite so many features. One of the most impressive digital audio players weve seen in quite some time; a true alternative to the mainstream brands with quality to match. |
